It also integrates experience quest rewards with many high-quality user mods. At first this sounds a bit bland but it rewards things that you would usually not do, for example reading unique books rewards experience, finding nirnroots, exploring new locations, mixing new potions, just to name a few. You gain a certain amount of experience for a level and then distribute your skills and stats afterwards (which are weighted depending on your class specialties). It replaces the standard "grind x skill to get x stat bonus" with a straight experience system. One of my favorite mods for oblivion (apart from the standard FCOM / darnified UI mentioned above) is Oblivion XP.
